FAQ

We have prepared this section for your convenience.

We would like to address any common concerns & questions that you might have.

How do we book 1 hour Canal Cruise?

That’s easy, you’re already on our website, so go ahead and book online. You will be emailed a confirmation, but you don’t need to bring this with you as we already have an electronic record of your booking.

Can I just turn up and pay on the boat?

This is not advisable as your booking will not be secured. It is best to book online.

How much does it cost?

Currently our prices for our 1-hour canal cruises are:

Adults - $25
Children (aged 3 to 14) - $15
Family ( 2 Adults and 2 children) - $68

Fee’s and Charges
Unfortunately fees and charges in the form of booking agent fees and credit card surcharges are an unavoidable cost to small business.

In order to keep our base price down, we have to pass on these fees to the customer, however, the final cost remains extremely good value for money, as echoed in our TripAdvisor reviews.

We appreciate your understanding.

Can we bring guide/assistance dogs on board?

Yes, but please contact us prior to make arrangements.

Where does the cruise leave from?

The boat leaves from “The Wharf Mooloolaba”. The exact address is 123 Parkyn Parade Mooloolaba. The main adjacent building to the Wharf is the Sealife Aquarium.

If you head through the buildings towards the water, you will see our boat “The M.V.Mudjimba.

What time do we need to be there?

The Skipper Rob, heads up to the central area from 15 minutes before your cruise to muster our cruises. We ALWAYS try to contact people who do not arrive by the time the cruise is about to depart.

Is there parking?

There is a carpark at the Wharf Mooloolaba but during peak periods it gets full very quickly. There are 4 hour, 3 hour and some all day spots.

There is also parking on the street on Parkyn Parade, The River Esplanade and Foote Street.

Please be sure to check how long you can park in any particular street or car park as the traffic wardens are about!

Is there a free tourist bus in the Mooloolaba area?

Unfortunately, at this point there is not. It is something that local businesses, keep asking the council and Visit Sunshine Coast to negotiate. Ask your accommodation facility about the local bus runs to Mooloolaba.

Do you run every day?

As a small family business, there are times of the year that we do not operate our cruises every day.

There are also times that we don’t operate due to low numbers or bad weather conditions, so we always advise that you check our bookings page to check that we are running or call us on 0411 368 248.

How long does the cruise go for?

We run our regular day cruises for 1 hour.

Can I bring food on board?

Yes, our boat is fully BYO.

Is there a bar?

No, but our boat is fully BYO including alcohol.

Can I bring an eskie on board?

Small eskies are great to position under or in front of your feet to rest your drinks on. If you are booking for a private function, there will be room for us to set up tables.

Where can I purchase drinks to bring on board?

You can purchase drinks from an external premises unopened prior to coming on board the vessel, or there is an independent premise that sells alcohol opposite the Wharf car park. Please note that you can not consume this alcohol within the wharf complex. You can only consume it on the boat itself.

Can I bring drinks on board that I have purchased at a bar within the Wharf complex?

No. You can only consume these within the dedicated alcohol consumption areas at the Wharf complex.

Is there a toilet on board?

Yes, there is a small toilet which you are most welcome to use, but we ask that you use the land facilities if possible, prior to boarding.

There is a grab rail in the toilet area and a privacy latch, and the area is quite roomy.

Is this cruise still-water?

Yes, absolutely. The boat does not leave the Mooloolaba Harbour River and Canal System.

Is the boat covered?

The boat is covered and has open side that can be closed with clears in the case of inclement weather.

We do advise to wear sunscreen as the sun can radiate through the sides of the boat at differing angles. We do have sunscreen on board.

Is the boat wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, due to AMSA regulations, and OH&S, we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs. However, there is a ramp leading down to the boat, and if persons are able to leave their chair at The Wharf dock and climb the 3 steps up and 3 steps down into the boat, then we are able.

Can I bring a pram on board?

We can fit one to two un-collapsed prams on board up near the front end, others will need to be left at The Wharf dock.

Can I bring a walker on board?

You will be required to leave your walker at The Wharf dock. There are 3 steps up into the boat with a grab rail on the left, then 3 steps down with grab rails on both sides.

Will we always see pelicans?

Pelicans leave the area to breed, usually around springtime. There are very few days that we don’t see them. We just may not see as many during the breeding season.

Remember they are wild and come and go as they please. We wouldn’t want it any other way.

Having said that, they know “The Mudjimba” well, and if they are about and hungry, will fly to the boat when they spot us. Skipper Rob always does his best to find them.

Can the boat be hired for private cruises?

Yes, absolutely, private cruises are usually for 2 hours but can be negotiated to your requirements. Please see the private cruise page for more details.

Can the boat be hired for bus group charters?

Yes, absolutely, bus groups are always welcome. Please see the group bookings page for more details.

Does it get cold in winter?

Although The Sunshine Coast enjoys a very mild winter with favourable temperatures, the wind can be chilly through the boat during June, July, August and September.

We advise you to bring a jacket, but we do have blankets on board for those caught out on the day.
